Process
ADT Environmental offers turn-key tank and pit cleaning services to assist in meeting
stringent federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to emission
reductions, waste minimization, and required inspection/repair intervals.
ADT
Environmental can clean any size tank and process the associated sludge.
Tank cleaning uses a wide array of service offerings including
liquid vacuuming, hydro blasting, steam cleaning, grit blasting, temporary
storage and roll-off services, dewatering and sludge processing, and
transportation.
Light Oil Tank Cleaning
— Uses the Hydrocarbon Reclaimer Process to perform tank cleaning, waste
processing and waste minimization services on gasoline and distillate
storage tanks.
Services also include: tank floor abrasive blasting, pipeline
pigging and purging, oil water separator cleaning, vapor abatement during
tank cleaning, facility closure, and mothball services.
Heavy Oil Tank Cleaning
— Provides crude oil and heavy distillate tank
cleaning. Tanks are cleaned
using both the HP 2000 Process and conventional tank cleaning methods.
Onsite waste processing services are offered in conjunction with tank
cleaning on petroleum waste streams generated as a result of the tank
cleaning process, utilizing centrifuge and filter press technologies.
Other
services include: asphalt tank cleaning, cat fines tank cleaning, slop oil
tank cleaning, API Separator cleaning and a tank mixing system called the LP 150 Process.
Tank Inspection/Engineering Evaluation
— Offers API 653 Tank Inspection and Engineering Evaluation for
the aboveground storage tanks (ASTs).
Other services include: magnetic flux
exclusion tank floor scans, tank dike containment studies, and construction
overview services.
Waste Processing Services
— Provides onsite filter press, centrifuge and specialty wastewater treatment
(VOC Unit and chemical neutralization) services on petroleum contaminated
waste streams.
ADT Environmental's Tank Turnaround is a single-source
program to control all tank management services. Its objectives are
threefold:
- Maintain compliance with industry standards and recommended
practices.
- Minimize tank out-of-service time.
- Increase tank in-service time.

ADT Environmental maximizes
the recovery of oil and hydrocarbons from crude tanks with a high paraffin
and asphaltene content. The tank is pumped to its lowest level and a cutter
stock is added, heated, and circulated.
Lab work is performed throughout the process to monitor progress. After
the recovered oil is removed, high-temperature water is injected for
separation and final hydrocarbon recovery.
The solids remaining on the floor are predominantly oil free. Clean water
is decanted and tank cleaning is completed using specialized equipment under
greatly-reduced LEL levels.
Using the Hydrocarbon Shearing Process,
hydrocarbon recovery rates of up to 96% have been achieved, with the quality
of the oil sufficient for reintroduction into the crude unit. Additionally,
residual solids are rendered oil-free so they may be classified as a
non-hazardous waste stream and can be disposed of at a significantly reduced
cost.
